Letters: Thank you Joe Guzzardi,

March 18, 2006 12:00 AM

Thank you Joe Guzzardi, for waking me up with your strong statement about how developers work. We are being bombarded, from Washington to our town, by politicians, developers and others who use doublespeak to manipulate the truth and mislead us on issues big and small to further their agenda at the expense of the greater good. No wonder ordinary folks feel it is a waste of time to get involved. We feel the cards are stacked against us from the beginning. It is hard to get information that can be trusted, and the name of the game seems to be "Confuse the People and the Issues." A local case in point is the shenanigans surrounding the eastern Goleta Valley Visioning Process. The committe members refused to submit to heavy pressure from the county to select high density housing sites immediately after forming. The county had originally advertised that this committee was to envision a well-planned future for our area, with meetings extending for over one year.

Listen closely to the candidates for 2nd District supervisor. Take note of their past actions and inactions and you will see that Joe Guzzardi is the only candidate who has a 16-year track record of looking at planned, limited growth while taking into account the constraints of water, traffic, air quality, health and safety, and the quality of life of our county.

Vote for Joe Guzzardi for 2nd District Supervisor and preserve our beautiful region.
